Walking around Journal Square Tuesday afternoon, looking for some excitement on the street, led me to this display in front of a beauty supply store on JFK Blvd. Disarming? Yes, because I didn’t know that one could actually purchase a half of a
mannequin, wearing skinny jeans, for under $10. Commentary on the feminine form? Perhaps. GenXers have been bombarded with images of mainstream beauty for years. Many of us women have starved, exercised and dieted their way into skinny jeans. For what? A cheap thrill? Good looking women are seen as commodities? I’ll let you decide.
