If you’re in the Philadelphia area and have nothing to do next Saturday, I invite you to join me on June 8th, at Underground Arts, to celebrate the launch of Apiary, Issue 6. For those of you who are on Facebook, RSVP by clicking on the link.
It’s going to be epic! There will be live music, face painting, poetry, and all around Philly brotherly love. Who couldn’t use a little of that sparkly, inspirational brotherly love these days?
I am very excited for the launch not only because some of my work, along with work by Karina Puente and Michael Haeflinger, two other amazing artists will grace its pages, but because it will feature haikus and an extensive interview with Sonia Sanchez, Philadelphia’s Poet Laureate (Sanchez just happens to live in Germantown, the same neighborhood I call home, how awesome is that!!).
She will also be headlining Saturday’s event… so if you haven’t had the chance to see her perform in person, you don’t want to miss this. I’m telling you that you don’t want to miss this. Seriously.
I will be attending the launch party and sharing a slideshow of black and white images from my Portraits of Philadelphia series that I’ve made over the past two years. It’s been a great ride, Philadelphia, and I’m very grateful for the support and love I’ve received. Looking forward to the next two years!
If you need more information, check out the press release to the left. You can click on it and it will take you to the Apiary magazine page with more information on the launch party.
See you next week!
Peace and blessings, Tieshka
